Live-in Gallery
Earlier this year, before COVID lockdown struck NSW, I approached the strata committee where I live with an idea.
The idea was to freshen up the foyer and lobby areas on each of the 5 floors of our building with new artwork, mine. As this is the common area, I was not sure how this offer would be received but was pleasantly surprised when I received immediate approval.

Libby McLean, SC Secretary, said “Alison’s offer of her fantastic art to freshen up our building was genius. We had not thought of our building, our home, as a potential art gallery yet now it is. Undertaking this step has also uncovered other established and budding artists within our community who will also have the opportunity in the future to showcase their art outside their home for more people to enjoy. Our initial ‘opening’ with 26 pieces from Alison is stunning. She has taken the time to match the varied styles of her work to the residents on each floor, another gift.”
you may be surprised
I recommend all artists have a look at the available wall space where they live or work and take the same steps that I did. You never know you may be surprised and get an enthusiastic yes like I did. As artists, we are creative thinkers. Let’s all take that creative thinking across to how we can showcase the work we create to share and inspire others.
