Reflecting on La Nina

La Nina, the opposite to El Nino is too much water. The Scientists are predicting an El Nino in Australia this winter when most of the rain falls on this very dry continent so our farmers are bracing for another hard year in 2015. The drought in some areas has not abated

The work entitled 'La Nina' in my Collections Gallery was made in 1999 to raise money for the Paralympics in Sydney 2000 and sold to a private investor. The work is an enlargement of a newspaper image of the Centre in the big wet of 1999. The special hand painted silk border I bought from an Aboriginal silk artist in Alice Springs .

A reference to Reflecting on La Nina can be found in the publication 'Quilts 2000 Australia Celebrates' which was handed to a paralympic sportsman at Mosman Art Gallery to celebrate the exhibition of the entire collection of quilts on display
